A man who recently won a $10 million Powerball jackpot had to be taken to hospital after collapsing from shock.

Tauranga man Lou Te Keeti didn't even believe he'd won until he saw "all these zeros" appear in his bank account, reports the Bay of Plenty Times.

"It dawned and I thought, 'Whoa, this is for real.'"

Trying to keep to a normal routine, Mr Te Keeti went to Pak'nSave to do his grocery shopping - but started feeling unwell.

"I was feeling not myself, quite strange, and they got me in an ambulance and I had all these tests and stayed a night in Tauranga Hospital. I saw all these docs but I didn't tell any of them that I had just won Lotto," he told the Times.

The doctor diagnosed him with a case of "euphoria".

Mr Te Keeti said he planned to spend the money on his family's Treaty claim fight.
