The increased competition for flights to North America is showing no signs of slowing down.

On Thursday, Flight Centre released return flights to Los Angeles for just $799 on American Airlines only to be trumped later in the afternoon by Air New Zealand's $749 prices.

Those have both been bested by Mix & Match on Friday, who announced an all-time low price of $699 return per person.

Mix & Match's Head of Ecommerce, Tim Paulsen said, "It's exciting that in this competitive market we are able to offer Kiwis this low unmatched fare to allow them to get out there and experience amazing destinations for less."

Travellers will have to be in quick though if they want to make the most of the sale, as it ends at midnight on Friday if not sold out prior.

Those that snap up the cheap flights will need to depart for Los Angeles from Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch between 8 October and 30 November 2017.

The cost of travel has been on the decline in recent years with New Zealand seeing added benefits from the increasing competition between airlines on our shores.

Flight Centre's cheapest airfare to Los Angeles in August 2013 was $1669 - more than double what it is now.
