A 16-metre outdoor art installation made entirely of cardboard and tape has met an untimely end in Christchurch.
The piece, inspired by the ChristChurch Cathedral, collapsed in a torrential downpour on Sunday afternoon - a few hours before it was scheduled to be demolished.
It was built in a day by a community group, led by travelling artist Olivier Grossetete.
Local children were tasked with finishing the demolition job and took to it with great enthusiasm.
It comes just a day after a decision was finally made on the quake-damaged Cathedral's future.
On Saturday, the church's synod voted to restore the Cathedral, at a cost of around $104 million.
Of that, the Government will be contributing a $10 million grant and a $15 million loan, which won't need to be repaid if conditions are made.
