City Rail Link Ltd has released new photos of the current progress of City Rail Link construction inside the Auckland central train station.

The Britomart Chief Post Office Building served as the main thoroughfare for commuters taking trains into the city until its temporary closure in January 2017.

The building is expected to remain closed for three years to allow for construction of new tunnels underneath the main floor.

The photos released by City Rail Link Ltd reveal the interior of the building gutted and work being done to remove the floor and make way for the new tunnel.

When the City Rail Link opens Britomart will no longer be the end point for train journeys.
