Mystery surrounds Dunedin man's disappearance

Mystery is surrounding the disappearance of Dunedin man Stephen Lowe whose car was found more than 160km away from where he was last seen.

Mr Lowe was last seen leaving work on Portsmouth Dr in Dunedin on Friday morning and has not been heard from or seen since. His black BMW was located by the public in the Catlins Conservation Park area on Tuesday morning.

Police and Land Search and Rescue volunteers launched an operation in the area to look for Mr Lowe but were unable to find him.

Authorities will continue their search for him on Wednesday.

Police would like to hear from anyone travelling through or hunting in the Owaka or Tautuku areas over the weekend who may have seen the black BMW vehicle that Mr Lowe had been travelling in.
