Police are warning parents to be vigilant about flashers, after a spate of unsavoury incidents around Wellington.

At least five children have been rudely approached in three incidents in the suburbs of Karori, Khandallah and Wadestown.

No arrests have yet been made and police are investigating whether the same man was involved in each incident.

On Saturday, September 9, two girls were walking on Nicholson Road in Khandallah, when an unknown man revealed himself to them.

The next day, another two girls were confronted on Fitzroy Street in Wadestown.

On the morning of Friday, September 15, a young boy was also approached by a man on Fancourt Street, Karori.

All of the children reported the incidents to adults, who then called police.

"We acknowledge that any report of an incident of this type would be concerning to parents, but we can reassure the community that we are taking these matters very seriously," says Sergeant Jayne Ross.

In a newsletter sent to parents, a local school has also warned of a fourth incident on the afternoon of Friday, September 15.

Ngaio School warned that a boy was offered lollies in an attempt to lure him into a car at the Simla Crescent bus stop in Karori.

The culprit reportedly said "come in the car and I'll give you sweets" and then drove off when the boy ran away.

Police ask anyone with information to call them on 04 381 2000.
