Train lines in south Auckland are running as normal once again after a crash involving a train and a utility vehicle was cleared.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 7:45am on Tuesday morning after the collision on a Takanini rail crossing.

The driver of the ute has moderate injuries.

Taka St was closed between Great South Rd and Takanini School Rd, but has now been opened again, Auckland Transport said.

However, they are warning that delays could still be expected as traffic eases up.

The Southern Line was completely suspended between Homai and Papakura, with trains from Britomart only going as far as Homai before turning around.

That has now been remedied, and south Auckland trains are now running as normal.
