A man being pursued by police crashed into two police cars in Tauranga on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to an address on Second Avenue after reports of a domestic incident at 6:13am.

The man drove off and failed to stop for police, and during the pursuit the man crashed into two police cars on the avenue.

Both police cars have suffered damage and two officers are being medically assessed after suffering minor injuries.

The 29-year-old man has been arrested and is due to appear in court on Wednesday for breach of bail, failing to stop, refusing to give blood, causing criminal damage with reckless disregard and injuring with reckless disregard.

Photographs show damage sustained to front bumper and bonnett of one police vehicle and the boot and rear bumper of a second vehicle.
