Man's death treated as 'unexplained' after his body found in Clutha River

A man's death is being treated as "unexplained" by police after his body was discovered in the Clutha River on Tuesday.

The body was found at Otanomomo, Otago by a member of the public at about 2:30pm, a police statement said.

A post-mortem will be carried out in the next few days. Because this has yet to be completed, the man has not been formally identified.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

They carried out an examination of the scene on Tuesday.
