Body found in water in Auckland's North Harbour, police investigation launched

Police are investigating after a person was found dead in the water in Auckland's North Harbour on Wednesday night.

A member of the public discovered the body next to a fishing dingy between Beach Haven and Herald Island, a police spokesperson said.

Police were notified at 8pm Wednesday and are working to identify the person. Keys to Volkswagen and Honda vehicles were located on the person.

Police ask anyone with information or anyone that's concerned for someone's whereabouts to contact police.
