More than a dozen firetrucks attended a large blaze that ignited at a south Auckland car wrecker's yard overnight.

A Fire and Emergency (FENZ) spokesperson told Newshub they were alerted to the blaze on Boundary Rd, Papakura at 10:25pm on Friday.

Twelve firetrucks and four ladder trucks attended the fourth-alarm fire which was described as "well involved" on arrival.

The spokesperson said the fire, which was in a pile of cars, was 30 by 40 metres. The blaze has since been extinguished but two trucks remain at the scene so crews can monitor hotspots.

No one was injured in the fire and it is not being treated as suspicious, FENZ said.
