Andrew Nicholson expected to have 'promising' recovery

Kiwi equestrian Andrew Nicholson has undergone neck surgery in the UK after falling from his mount during a competition over the weekend.

In a statement, the six-time Olympian's family said that "the surgery went well and his condition is stable. Andrew is comfortable and has full range of movement."

3 News Europe correspondent Melissa Davies this morning joined Paul Henry from London where she described how this fall may have an impact on his career and his riding in the future.

"[The fact that] he has full range of movement is very promising news," says Davies.
