A win-win for the Waikato

There's a win-win scenario happening in the Waikato.

Not only are rundown houses being brought up to scratch, but the men working on them, are getting the skills they need to turn their lives around.

Spring Hill Corrections Facility is where state houses go to get a new lease of life.

Prison director, Chris Lightbrown says the scheme is achieving some great results.

"400 prisoners have gone through this scheme; 400 men who at the start didn't have much in the way of skills. That's been a great, great achievement."

Housing New Zealand does often get flack and it's one of those organisations that many people love to hate.

But this particular scheme is doing something right.
