Young people abandoning religion - research

According to Australian social researcher Hugh MacKay, a growing number of people in society today, particularly young people, are abandoning religion in favour of a different kind of spirituality... one not restricted by institutions or guidelines.

He says we don't actively 'worship' and yet are apparently comforted by the mere presence of the many churches that operate in our community.

Mr MacKay has just released a new book titled Beyond Belief, and he joined Paul Henry this morning.
