New Zealand has one of highest asthma rates in the world

Today marks World Asthma Day.

It’s a disease that killed 70 New Zealanders last year alone.

15% of all kids here have it… and the rate is even higher among Maori and Pacific Island children.

New Zealand’s leading asthma experts say we’re far too relaxed and are calling for urgent action.

Associate Professor Jim Reid of Otago University spoke to Duncan Garner.
