Dunedin is furious it's missed out on a Rugby World Cup victory parade for a second time.

Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch will all celebrate the All Blacks' win this week with the players and get to see the prized Webb Ellis Cup.

But Dunedin's left out in the cold, and New Zealand Rugby's Neil Sorensen understands the disappointment.

"I empathise with Dunedin, they've got a great rugby Mayor in Dave Cull, the Highlanders are a great rugby tradition, you just can't take [the trophy] everywhere in the next few days," Sorensen said.

"These guys are knackered, they want to get home."

Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull confirmed he had been told by the New Zealand Rugby Union that the All Blacks would not be visiting the city this week.

Cull has reportedly remained in discussions for several members of the team to visit the city.

A Facebook page 'Bring the 2015 Rugby World Cup Champions to Dunedin' is rapidly gaining members, topping 2450 on Tuesday morning.

Aucklanders will be first to see the World Cup on Wednesday with a ticker-tape parade to be held at Victoria Park at 12pm.

Celebrations will then head to Christchurch on Thursday with a street parade and ceremony at Hagley Park, before Wellingtonians will hold an event on the Friday.

The All Blacks arrive in New Zealand the same day as Prince Charles and Camilla.

Prime Minister John Key today suggested the royal couple may be joining the team for one of their celebratory parades, but it's currently unclear which one it will be.
