Wellington Phoenix skipper Andrew Durante has thrown his full support behind the introduction of video refereeing in the A-League.
The call comes after the Phoenix narrowly lost to Melbourne City on Sunday with the hosts being awarded a questionable penalty.
"Ernie [Merrick] has spoken about bringing in video refereeing, bring it in, help them," said Durante at Phoenix training on Thursday.
"They clearly need some help or some extra eyes out there so if that's what will fix it and will make the players, the fans, the club less aggravated then bring it in."
The All Whites defender said the number of people constantly complaining about the refereeing every week wasn't a good look for the competition.
"It wasn't one of his better games but it seems like every game there seems to be a player or coach complaining about referees so it's not a great look for the league at the moment."
However, Durante stopped short of suggesting that the refereeing cost the Phoenix a victory at the weekend.
"We were good enough for a draw, but we probably didn't create enough to win the game, but definitely a draw.
"I don't think he had a great game. I think there were dodgy calls for both teams and the yellow cards that were dished out were a bit lopsided in the favour of us."
The Phoenix face a tricky test away to Adelaide United this Sunday with the reds currently rooted to the bottom of the A-League table and is yet to record a win.
