Kiwi kickboxing sensation Israel Adesanya's hoping to create history when he fights for the world middleweight title in Los Angeles in January.

The man they call the "The Last Stylebender" is set to face Dutchman Jason Wilniss.

Adesanya - a fierce fighter in the ring, and not one prepared to be dictated to outside of it either.

The 27-year-old's determined to make the most of his shot at the world middleweight title, and happy for now to let an approach from the head of the UFC pass by.

Adesanya boasts an impressive record of 65 wins and three losses and he wants to return New Zealand to its past glories.

But he's happy to accept that to get to the next level - there is plenty of work involved.

"Every week day I'm here grappling," says Adesanya.

"I'm staying sharp."

It's staying sharp in the build-up that could make all the difference when he Adesanya fights on January 20th.
