Israel Adesanya on Friday received a message of encouragement and advice from former UFC light heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans, ahead of his Glory middleweight title fight against Jason Wilnis tomorrow.

The 27-year-old met Evans in 2015 on a trip to Blackzilians gym in Miami after being invited to train with UFC light heavyweight fighter Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson, as he prepared to fight Jon 'Bones' Jones.

"I just want to send you some good luck vibes your way man, I know you're gonna get your first title champion," Evans says in a video message to Adesanya.

"Ever since I met you, I knew there was something special about you. Go ahead, do you, be funky, be fresh,  be the stylebender you are."

The Kiwi fighter has expressed his interest in fighting for the UFC after receiving calls from promoter Dana White, but is yet to commit to a contract.

Israel 'The Last Stylebender' Adesanya vs Jason Wilnis is free-to-air on SKY TV tomorrow, with the undercard starting at 4:30pm (NZ time) and main card starting at 6pm.
