Wellington Phoenix gun Roy Krishna will miss the team's next match against the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday after being handed a one match suspension.

The suspension comes after the 29-year-old was given a red card for an act of "serious foul play" during the Phoenix's poor 2-1 loss to Perth Glory last week.

Krishna was the only player from the competition's Round 14 to come under scrutiny by the Independent Match Review Panel.

While the Phoenix have the likes of Kosta Barbarouses and Shane Smeltz to plug the gap, the loss is a big one with Krishna the team's top scorer with eight goals in 13 appearances in the 2016/17 season.

He will be next available for the home clash against the Melbourne Victory on Tuesday the 17th of January.
