Kiwi rally driver Hayden Paddon's return to action at the World Rally Championship didn't go to plan as the 29-year-old made numerous mistakes on the opening nights action Friday [NZT].
Paddon finished 11th in the Super Stage at Rally Sweden after bogging down at the start and then hitting a tire barrier on the second lap.
Fin flyerJari-Matti Latvala won the stage, with Paddon 3.2 seconds off the pace.
Racing resumes on Saturday, with Paddon chasing his first points of this season's championship after withdrawing from the Monte Carlo rally following an accident that resulted in the death of a spectator.
