The clouds have cleared and the rain has stayed away for the first hour of the second day in the third Test between New Zealand and South Africa.

Captain Faf du Plessis and Temba Bavuma will look to get South Africa back on track after being held to 123/4 on a rain-interrupted first day which allowed for only 41 overs to be played.

New Zealand could have had a more enjoyable first day in the field had they been smarter with the DRS, making two poor reviews and missing an LBW decision that would have been out had it been reviews.

Instead, the job on day two will most likely be down to the dual spin attack of Mitchell Santner and Jeetan Patel to make further inroads to the Proteas middle order.

Heavy rain is forecast after lunch on day two with Monday also looking like it will be spoiled by weather.
