World Rally Championship driver Kris Meeke found himself alongside spectators in the car park after going spectacularly off track during the final stage of the Rally Guanajuato Mexico.

Leading for virtually the entire four-day event, Meeke started the stage 37.2 seconds ahead of overall leader Sebastien Ogier.

And the Northern Irishman needed every second after losing control on a long bend and spinning off the course.

Meeke then had to drive through the car park before making his way back onto the course at the point he slid off.

He kept his composure and while he lost some time on Ogier, he managed to close out the win by 13.8 seconds.

Thierry Neuville came in third, almost a minute off the pace set by Meeke while Hayden Paddon experienced a troublesome rally, finishing over three and a half minutes off the pace.
