The Warriors are preparing to make a play at Kiwis sensation Jason Taumalolo.
With cap space aplenty and a dire need for some sting in the forwards, the Auckland-based club will look to secure the services of the reigning Dally M medallist for 2018 and beyond, according to reports from Australia's Rugby League Week.
After missing out on signing Storm front-rower Jesse Bromwich, snaring Taumalolo, who comes off contract with the North Queensland Cowboys at the end of the 2017 season, would be a monumental acquisition.
"Jason has some decisions to make and we will sit down soon and decide which direction he wants to take," said Taumalolo's manager Chris Orr.
The Warriors would undoubtedly be competing with a raft of clubs across the NRL in attempting to add him to their roster, but a chance to both return to his hometown Auckland and reunite with Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney could prove crucial draws.
Widely considered the NRL's most damaging forward, Taumalolo carries with him a large price-tag and justifiably so, demanding a rate of at least $1 million per season.
The 23-year-old has also expressed his aspirations for an NFL career, working out for a group of scouts representing 14 of the league's franchises in Los Angeles of which a handful have expressed interest.
