Kiwi Lydia Ko has been forced to withdraw from the LPGA event in Texas due to an eye irritation, opneing the door for rival Jutanugarn to usurp her world No. 1 ranking.

Ko was one over-par through two rounds but decided she was unable to continue.

"She has a swollen eye due to an infection, most likely caused by allergy (pollen), which she was suffering (from) all week,” said Ko’s agent Michael Kim in a statement.

"She was advised by the doctor to not wear any contact lenses until it got better."

The 20-year-old could lose her top spot if rival Ariya Jutanugarn, who currently sits in second place, goes on to win the event.
