Team New Zealand escape nose-dive shock

Team New Zealand have had a narrow escape from disaster after their boat nosedived during a training run.

The team were practising in Bermuda when a strong gust of wind caught them off-guard.

"Not the ideal way to exit a tight harbour in 24.3 knots! Nose dive! We will have another shot at it tomorrow," the team said on Facebook.

The crew were lucky not to be thrown off the boat or submerged during the incident.

The dramatic video shows the dangers of the super-fast catamarans - numerous teams have suffered capsizes or lost crew overboard as they push the limits of the highly-advanced class.
