Opener Tom Latham will captain the Blackcaps for the upcoming Tri-series against hosts Ireland and Bangladesh in Ireland next month.

It'll be the first time the 25-year old has captained the side, and he'll become the 22nd player to lead his country in the ODI format.

The team also features debutants Seth Rance and Scott Kuggeleijn, while Neil Wagner is also in line to make his one-day debut.

29-year old Rance has been one of the country's leading wicket takers in domestic cricket for the Central Stags, while Kuggeleijn was called into the Blackcaps test squad as cover for the final match against South Africa.

Wellington paceman Hamish Bennett and Central District's opener George Worker have been recalled to the side after a long absence, while Colin Munro and Henry Nicholls also return.

The tri-series will act as a warm-up to the Champions Trophy in June, with New Zealand's first game against Ireland on May 14.

Several of the Blackcaps' front-line options, including skipper Kane Williamson, Trent Boult and Martin Guptill, weren't considered due to their involvement in the IPL.
