Ian Foster, Mike Cron commit to the All Blacks through to the 2019 Rugby World Cup

Ian Foster and Mike Cron have recommitted to the All Blacks through to the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Key members of the coaching team, both assistant Foster and 'scrum doctor' Cron have been with the All Blacks since their appointments at the beginning of 2012.

Foster is heavily tipped for the head coaching role once Steve Hansen vacates the role which is likely to be after the next World Cup.

Meanwhile, the re-signing of Cron particularly is a coup for New Zealand Rugby, considering the 61-year-old wasn't expected to remain past the 2015 Rugby World Cup in the UK.

NZR chief Steve Tew paid tribute to both coaches and said they were "delighted" to have been able to re-sign them.

"Ian Foster and Mike Cron continue to make invaluable contributions to the All Blacks and their respective roles in the team's success in recent years can't be underestimated.

"'Fozzie' has lead the team's back play and attack, which was second to none last year, with the All Blacks topping the international try-scoring table with 80 tries, almost double their nearest rival."

"'Cronno' has long been considered the guru of scrum and forward play, and he remains one of the most innovative coaches in the game. His commitment to helping players improve is legendary."

The re-signing will be a welcome development for New Zealand Rugby after All Blacks backs coach Wayne Smith announced last week that he'd be stepping down from his role at the end of the season.
