A Canberra man has appeared in court after allegedly selling cocaine to two high-profile Kiwi rugby league players after the Anzac Test on Friday night.

Kiwis captain Jesse Bromwich and teammate Kevin Proctor allegedly joined Canberra resident Adrian Mark Crowther outside a local nightclub in the city centre, ABC Australia is reporting.

Police reportedly saw Crowther on CCTV preparing a white powdery substance, before handing it to the two men.

Both players were named in court, but neither has been charged with an offence.

Bromwich captained New Zealand in Friday night's crushing 30-12 defeat at the hands of Australia at GIO Stadium in the nation's capital.

New Zealand Rugby League says if the allegations are true, they will be taking swift action.

A statement says the NZRL was told of the allegations on Saturday morning.

"We are working with the NRL while investigations into the alleged incident are ongoing and New Zealand Rugby League will not be making any comment until more information becomes available.

NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg said he is working with all parties involved to resolve the issue.

"The game has taken steps over many years to highlight the risks associated with the use of illicit drugs," Greenberg said.

"We will continue that work but ultimately individuals are accountable for their own choices, and the League's capacity to eliminate the use of illicit drugs by its participants faces similar challenges to that faced by society."

The Gold Coast Titans were also told of the allegations on Saturday morning, but would not comment further.

Meanwhile, the Storm released a statement via Twitter they'd been made aware of "an allegation against one of its players".

"The Club is currently making endeavours to speak to the player and will provide an update when appropriate. Until that point, the Club will not make further comment."

The news follows that of former Kiwis centre, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who was arrested and charged on Thursday for possession of cocaine in a Sydney nightclub.
