Boston Celtics to play Cleveland Cavaliers in NBA eastern conference finals

The Boston Celtics will come up against LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers to find out the best of the east after edging the Washington Wizards 115-105 in match seven of the conference semi-finals.

Small man Isaiah Thomas' lion heart shone through once again but it was unlikely hero Kelly Olynyk who starred for the Celtics.

Coming off the bench, Olynyk shot a stellar five from six in the fourth quarter to end with 26 points and seal the Wizards fate.

Both teams had good periods but both teams were also understandably tight early on as the Celtics started strong with a 10-0 run.

Led by Joe Crowder and Al Horford, the Celtics punished the Wizards' poor shooting and their inability to get inside the paint.

But it didn't last too long for the Wizards who eventually managed to get into the game with John Wall doing what he does, showing the type of urgency they were going to need if they were to make their first conference finals since 1978.

Heading into the third quarter, the Wizards - with the assistance of Bradley Beal who finished with a game high 38-points - managed to keep the Celtics at arm's distance.

However, a few missed shots toward the end of the third allowed the home side an opportunity for parity and they weren't to miss out with Thomas and Marcus Smart - who chipped in with a handy 13 points - nailing two threes to go into the fourth with a six-point lead.

Cometh the man, cometh the Kelly as Olynyk - who's not known as one of the Celtics' best players - drove the dagger further into the Wizards season in the final minutes of the match.

The 26-year-old had scored 26 points just four times in his career entering the game.
