Bermuda was buzzing on Friday (NZT) with talk of a late protest being lodged by Oracle Team USA against Team New Zealand.

America's Cup race management personnel were spotted making multiple visits to the Kiwi base, and NZME had reported four members of the measuring committee spent an hour at the Team NZ base on Thursday morning (local time).

They also reported the officials returned later in the day after the Kiwis had returned from a practice session.

However a spokesman for the America's Cup organising body told Newshub that Oracle haven't lodged any protest.

They added that the measurement committee going to the Team New Zealand base today is "a normal part of everyday activity" and not related to a protest.

When contacted by Newshub for comment, Oracle dismissed the suggestion of a protest as "all speculation".

Ken McAlpine, chief measurer, had confirmed that no official protest had been lodged as of yet, but race management were busy dealing with last minute issues that have arisen.

McAlpine told NZME that the measurers had spent an hour and a half at the Oracle base following up on concerns raised. This was an hour before they visited Team NZ.

McAlpine would not go into details of what the measurement committee had been asked to assess, but said it is their duty to properly satisfy any questions that are asked by the competitors.
