WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker has been called out by British fighter Dillian Whyte, who said he is ready to face Parker if Hughie Fury pulls out of a planned fight in England.

Both Parker and Whyte were ringside at London's Copper Box Arena watching Fury's exhibition fight against Kamil Sokolowski.

Parker is expected to fight Fury for the WBO title in Manchester on September 23.

Fury pulled out of a planned bout in Auckland in May, claiming to have suffered a back injury two weeks before the fight.

Whyte told Parker if Fury backs out again he will happily step in and take the fight.

"I am ready. Let's get it on," said Whyte.

"I'd be ready if Hughie pulled out in September. I will be ready. I'm ready. Let's do it.

"I want that world title, man. You're holding the belt. You need to fight someone decent.

"If Hughie pulls out in September, I will be ready. We can have a contract in place."

The Kiwi champion told Whyte to talk to his manager.

"Get Eddie [Hearn] to talk to David [Higgins]," said Parker.

The 29-year-old did speak to Higgins, who replied saying he planned to meet Hearn on Monday.

Whyte is the current WBC heavyweight champion, and has a 20-win, one-loss record.

That one loss came against Anthony Joshua in 2015.

Parker is currently in England promoting the upcoming fight against the unbeaten Fury.
