The pair smashed quick-fire half centuries in an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 132.
Munro hit seven fours along with three sixes to finish with 66 runs off 39 balls, while McCullum blasted seven sixes and two fours to finish with 58 runs off 27 deliveries.
Former Blackcaps opener Jessie Ryder scored 18 for the Stars.
The Knight Riders face defending Premier League champions the Jamaica Tallawahs in their next match.
