Steven Adams double-double not enough as OKC Thunder slump to second-straight defeat

An impressive double-double by Kiwi Steven Adams wasn't enough to guide the Oklahoma City Thunder to victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City on Monday (NZ time).

The Timberwolves won 115-113 after Andrew Wiggins banked home the game-winning three-point shot as time expired.

Twenty-four-year-old Adams scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to go with two blocks and three assists.

Teammate Russell Westbrook scored game-high 31-points to go along with 10 assists, while Carmelo Anthony scored 23.

Minnesota duo Karl-Anthony Towns along with Wiggins both scored 27 points each.

The Timberwolves started the match with a roar and led 61-54 at the break.

In the second half, the Thunder continually closed the gap, but the Timberwolves kept pulling away which set up the thrilling finish.

With 8.9 seconds left, Westbrook dropped it off to Anthony for a go-ahead 3 to put OKC up 113-112, but Wiggins hit a running buzzer-beating shot to silence the Oklahoma crowd.

It was the Thunder's second consecutive loss in two days after losing to the Utah Jazz 96-87 on Sunday (NZ time).

The Thunder will look to bounce back when they host the Indiana Pacers on Thursday (NZ time).
