Wellington Phoenix assistant coach Rado Vidosic is parting ways with the club and he's taking his son, stand-out forward Dario Vidosic, with him.

The pair have mutually agreed terms for termination of their respective contracts with the side, the Phoenix announced Wednesday afternoon.

General Manager David Dome expressed regret that the situation had come to this but said the move was necessary in order to help the struggling club rediscover some cohesion.

"Over recent weeks it’s become apparent not everyone has been on the same page and the playing group has begun to be affected by this uncertainty," said Dome in a statement.

"We’ve put tremendous work this season into progressing the culture at this football club and the players and staff have bought into this. We are confident this unity of vision and purpose hold us in good stead to improve performances."

The Phoenix are currently anchored to the bottom of the A-League ladder with just a solitary win to their name this year.

Vidosic, a former Socceroo, has been one of their few shining lights this season to date, scoring four goals as one of the struggling side's most consistent and influential players.

The losses come just two weeks after another marquee player, Gui Finkler, decided to prematurely part ways with the Phoenix.

The team says they'll announce new player and coaching additions in coming weeks once the January transfer window has opened.

They'll host league leaders Sydney FC in Wellington on Saturday.
