New Zealander Isa Nacewa has announced he'll retire from the game at the end of the current northern season.

The Leinster captain has been described as the greatest overseas signing in Irish rugby, scoring more than 700 points in 182 appearances.

Prior to his departure for Europe, Nacewa was a mainstay of Auckland rugby. He played over 50 times for the blue-and-whites, including three national provincial title wins.

He played a solitary test match for Fiji at the Rugby World Cup in 2003 which ultimately prevented him from being selected for the All Blacks, the IRB denying his requests to have the cap annulled in order to gain eligibility for New Zealand.

Nacewa left the Blues in 2008 and has since been a hugely influential figure in Leinster's rise to one of European rugby's super powers.

He's in line to go out on top as his side get set to square off against Dan Carter's Racing 92 in the final of the European Cup next month.
