Up to 40 passengers on a Qantas flight on Monday were kicked off because the plane was too heavy to fly.
The Perth-bound flight was due to leave Sydney on Monday night (local time), but after boarding, staff called out passengers' names and told them to disembark the Boeing 737-800.
One passenger said her row was empty by the time the plane took off, WA Today reports.
A Qantas spokeswoman said the plane's load readings had been affected by a fuel pump problem.
"As a result, a number of customers were re-accommodated onto the next available service, which departed shortly after," she said.
"We sincerely thank our customers for their patience and understanding."
