A teenager in Spain died after thinking she heard her bungee instructor say "now jump", when he was meaning to say "no jump".
An instructor for bungee company Flowtrack has now appeared in court in northern Spain after the horrific death of Dutch teen Vera Mol, who plunged to her death aged 17 in 2015.
The court was told the instructor's English language skills were "poor" and Vera died due to a misunderstanding.
Local media reports his poor pronunciation in telling Vera not to jump was understood by her as "now jump", before she took the fatal plunge.
Flowtrack's director will now be prosecuted for homicide through negligence, despite appealing a court ruling last year where it was argued Vera jumped before she was told to.
"The use of the poor English 'No jump' could perfectly well be understood as an explicit order to jump by the victim," the judgement said.
Vera hadn't been attached to a safety line and was underage, it has been ruled, with the judge saying the instructor should have checked for ID to make sure she was at least 18 years old.
Bungee jumping was also prohibited from the bridge in question under Spanish regulations.
