It was a smash-n-grab - emphasis on the smash - for a robber who used a backhoe to destroy a Bank of America ATM.
Prince George's County police in Maryland have released CCTV footage of the extreme lengths one robber went to to try and crack open the ATM around 4:30am on June 1 (local time).
They think the backhoe loader was stolen earlier that night and driven around 8km to the bank.
The video shows parts of the ATM strewn across the drive-thru lane.
The suspect was ultimately unsuccessful in getting any money, but did cause around US$10,000 (NZ$13,800) in damage to the machine.
Police think the robber is the same person behind an ATM theft last year.
