An editorial in North Korea's state media said Donald Trump has been "sentenced to death by the Korean people".
The article in newspaper Rodong Sinmum took issue with comments Mr Trump made in South Korea, according to KCNA.
"The worst crime for which he can never be pardoned is that he dared malignantly to hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK [Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea]," the editorial said.
The editorial also referred to Mr Trump as "an old lunatic, mean trickster and human reject" as well as "a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people".
In a news conference earlier today, Mr Trump said while in South Korea he spoke "the truth about the evil crimes of the North Korean regime".
"I made clear that we will not allow this twisted dictatorship to hold the world hostage to nuclear blackmail."
