3 injured in 40-metre Coromandel cliff plunge

Police were called to a crash in the Coromandel on Saturday night after a car crashed through a barrier and plunged down a 40-metre cliff.

The accident occurred on Manaia Road, Te Kouma just after 9:30pm.

Two adults and a child were injured. One had serious injuries and two others, moderate.

A specialist line rescue team flew out in a Westpac Rescue Helicopter to help pull them up the cliff. They were then flown to hospital.
