Auckland burglary leads to pursuit, crash, manhunt

A manhunt is underway for at least two offenders who ram-raided an Oteha Valley liquor store and then led police on a pursuit down through parts of Auckland.

Police received reports of the burglary around 3:30am and a marked vehicle saw two vehicles believed to be involved shortly after. Both refused to stop for the police unit.

A pursuit then ensued and as a result, the two vehicles separated at the Greenlane interchange with one of the cars continuing to be pursued.

That car then entered the Southwestern Motorway via the on-ramp at Cavendish Rd, where police subsequently abandoned the chase.

A short time later the car crashed into the median barrier and two people escaped from the vehicle on foot.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Police say they are still trying to locate all those linked to the burglary and pursuit, but the items taken from the liquor store were found in the car.
