The Canterbury A&P show is underway in Christchurch.
The three-day event is the largest agricultural show in the country, and this year it is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
Event director Rae Finlay says it is a great occasion for the region.
“It’s a great thing for Canterbury,” he says. “We’ve been built and developed on an agricultural foundation.”
From the cute to the downright ugly, everything is there, including Horietta the hermit sheep.
Over the next three days well over 100,000 people are expected to visit the show, which brings in around $17 million annually.
This year’s show will be topped off by a visit from the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
It will be the final stop for the royals as they finish their tour of New Zealand in Christchurch on Friday.
