Christchurch war memorial tagged

The vandalism of a Christchurch war memorial has angered members of the local RSA.

It’s the second time the New Brighton cenotaph has been tagged this year and RSA president Roger Kenworthy says he’s had enough.

“They have no respect for our history. It actually can make you cry,” he told The Press.

Mr Kenworthy says tagging is a problem in the area but this was the worst to date.

The cenotaph was last tagged in April with the Christchurch City Council left to foot the bill.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is urged to contact the local police on 03 3637400.
