Christchurch's annual ASB Classical Sparks has been postponed due to bad weather.

The popular event will instead be held tomorrow night in North Hagley Park at 7:30pm.

Christchurch City Council marketing manager Richard Stokes says the show will run exactly as planned, just a day late.

“The decision has been made purely for audience comfort,” he says.

“We know how much this show means to the people of Christchurch, and how keenly many people are anticipating ASB Classical Sparks, but Wednesday evening is looking much more pleasant.”

The annual show, headlined by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and backed by a fireworks display, is a crowd favourite in Christchurch.

This year it will emceed by Mark Hadlow, a former Christchurch City Council events planner who left his job to play Dori the Dwarf in Sir Peter Jackson’s latest Hobbit blockbuster.
