It has been a chilly start to Thursday for parts of the South Island, with temperatures barely reaching double digits - and finally a little bit of snow!
Methven is reporting lots of snow dumping down however, despite freezing temperatures and the odd snow shower, inland areas such as Tekapo seem to have escaped the major snow dump that was forecast.
Jess Tamara captured a video of the snow on Mt Cargill in Dunedin where it's currently 4.5degC in the city.
The low pressure system moving over the country is what's bringing the wet and cold weather.

Ice on the roads is disrupting drivers and a rental van has slid off Burkes Pass in south Canterbury. The driver had to climb out the passenger window when his car crossed the centre line and went off the road just after 8am while he was heading to Queenstown.
Burkes Pass will have to close while the van is retrieved, although police are unsure when this will be.
A three-truck crash north of Kaikoura earlier this morning is causing delays. The road has since re-opened after it was closed while a vehicle was retrieved. A truck initially went off the road and a second truck was crashed into by a third when the driver pulled over to make sure the first truck driver was okay.

Rain about the Canterbury region is spreading north this morning, with snow expected to dust the hills above 300 metres.
Get the hot water bottle out for Friday as snow down to near sea level is expected for the east and south of the South Island again.

The snow can only mean good things for the ski fields however, who are all reporting top-ups of powder, but are advising skiers to wrap up warmly.
Treble Cone has had an amazing 25cm in the past 24 hours, much needed after a very dry start to the season.
Mt Hutt has had 15cm since early this morning and it doesn't look to be letting up.
Coronet Peak reached -7degC overnight and has great skiing conditions today including pockets of powder off-piste. The Remarkables is open after 8cm of snow yesterday with wind drifted powder ready to hunt down today.
