Ex-ACT MP David Garrett pleaded guilty to drink-driving charges today.

He was stopped by police in Waitoki, north of Auckland on July 29 last year and found to have a blood alcohol reading of 132mg of alcohol per 100ml.

The legal limit is 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

He pleaded guilty today at the Waitakere District Court.

Garrett is currently suspended from practising as a lawyer after failing to declare a 2002 assault conviction in Tonga when being tried for stealing a dead baby’s identity. He was not convicted for the identity theft.
