Fog causing delays at Auckland Airport has lifted and flights are now operating as planned.

The fog restrictions were put in place just before 7am today and some regional flights were affected, an airport spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, other parts of Auckland remain blanketed but NZTA says there haven't been any crashes as a result of the low-lying cloud.

It says the Southern Motorway around East Tamaki and Highbrook, Rosedale on the Northern Motorway and the central motorway junction had all been affected.

People have slowed down on the roads as a result but it's not causing any major problems.

Ferries aren't exempt either; currently Auckland Transport says all services are affected.
