A hi-tech camera-mounted backpack is making Gallipoli a step more accessible this Anzac Day.

Google has mapped the sights of the peninsula as part of its Street View technology.

Spokesman Shane Treeves says users can take a 360-degree tour as if they were there.

"Some of the most important locations for New Zealanders will be Chunuk Bair, Hill 60 and Twelve Tree Copse, as well as other locations such as the ANZAC ceremonial area and also the Lone pine Cemetery and memorial."

"I hope that this will in some way help them to virtually be there, although physically they can't be," RSA head David Moger told Newstalk ZB.

The Gallipoli 360 project will go online tomorrow.
