A jewellery store in the Auckland suburb of Grey Lynn has been ploughed into in the early hours of this morning.

The driver has been seriously injured with two others in the car also hurt.

Northern fire communications spokesperson Megan Ruru says it caused a minor gas leak, which meant Richmond Rd residents were evacuated around 1:30am.

"There was a gas main that was ruptured and we had to get the power company out to deal with a power pole that was also involved."
